Passion, self-confidence, speaking my truth. I'm a lifelong learner who left a gig in not-for-profit management after 18 years to pursue my passion of supporting women's wellness. I'm managing perimenopausal symptoms (hot flashes, acne AND wrinkles, anxiety etc.) while trying to keep 3 young humans alive and happy. I've lived my whole life hating my body and trying to change it. I've spent hours on social media looking at dramatic before and afters wondering if I would ever get to showcase a similar story. At 40, I realized something. You can be happy and proud of yourself now and still want to strive to feel better in your skin, run new personal bests or eat more protein.
When I was a new mom, I started to teach mom & baby fitness classes, so women could reclaim some space and reconnect with their bodies while balancing motherhood. I saw the importance of community and mentorship in the lives of women. Moms of multiples passing on tips and reassurance to moms experiencing it all for the first time. I supported moms to honour their "new" body, reminding them they shouldn't try to "bounce back" to their prebaby bodies, but move forward and find new strength, power and balance in a body that has shown it's capable of amazing things.
As I've struggled with midlife shifts and changes, I'm reflecting on what goals I want to achieve and laying out plans to be the most mobile, strong and confident me I can be. I'm finding new ways to work with my body because the old ways no longer work (they weren't always healthy anyway!) I'm looking to increase my "health span" not just my life span and I'm intentionally injecting more joy in my daily life.
I have lived my life trying to fit the mold, be the nice girl and make sure everyone feels loved while neglecting my own needs. After breaking my own cycle of disordered eating, I want women to have the space to challenge mainstream media that good women look, act and feel a certain way. I want to help women of all ages and stages choose their own goals regardless of outside voices. I want to help them challenge the negative thoughts. All bodies are good bodies. Before and Afters are silly. You are worthy today and worth investing in to feel more good feelings. Confident, strong, joyful, sexy, calm, empowered - whatever you are reaching for more of in your mind, body and soul.
